Once you are pregnant it is important to get in touch with your local GP or the midwife to arrange  antenatal classes. The more prepared you are for the birth, the better the experince will be for you.

As an expectant mother you have many important decisions to make such as where to have a baby and the sort of care that you want.

Your choices may be limited in the area that you live but talking with the midwife and formulating your birth plan, which is a record of your choices, with your midwife and your partner. Towards the end of your pregnancy you should prepare a bag to have ready when your waters break, making sure you are ready to head straight to the hospital. Have a think. What may you need? Also you should be consider, who will be my birth partner?
